Crows rule out resting players in AFL

Adelaide assistant coach Matthew Clarke says his AFL club won't rest players despite being unable to make the AFL finals with two games remaining.

Adelaide are ruling out sending some players to an early AFL off-season as they grapple with the disappointment of missing the finals.

The Crows will continue to pick a side to win their remaining two games, rather than gift younger squad members an opportunity, assistant coach Matthew Clarke says.

"We have got to finish the season as strongly as we possibly can," Clarke told reporters on Monday.

"And pick the team that we think can beat North Melbourne (this Sunday) - I think you can get yourself into a little bit of trouble if you start tampering with that too much.

"That will be the number one priority: finish our season with real strength."

Clarke said the Crows were out of contention to reach the play-offs because of many factors - injuries and a lack of on-field consistency among them.

"Not good enough, consistently enough," he said.

"There's a lot of factors. Any time you have success as a football club, it's down to everybody and when you don't have it, similarly it's down to everybody.

"The consistency of the contest has been pretty critical to us ... that has probably been the one area where we have potentially let ourselves down a bit.

"Just being able to maintain a really high standard throughout four quarters and consistently week after week.

"We have underperformed to our capabilities, no argument there."
