Crows shrug off AFL frontrunner pressure

The Adelaide Crows says finishing first doesn't put any extra pressure on the club entering the AFL finals.

The AFL's table-topping Adelaide Crows are shrugging off any pressure from finishing first.

Forward Tom Lynch says claiming top spot doesn't add any extra pressure to a club which has been beaten semi-finalists the past two years.

"There's no pressure," Lynch said.

"It's just excitement about playing finals.

"Guys are looking forward to the opportunity. Some guys haven't been in this position before.

"I have only been a part of a few finals campaigns but the confidence and belief amongst this group is high.

"Like a number of teams are, they're going into this finals campaign to win, so we're no different."

The Crows face an anxious wait on vice-captain Rory Sloane, who had his appendix removed on Tuesday.

Sloane has just nine days before Adelaide's home qualifying final against Greater Western Sydney on Thursday next week - his teammate Eddie Betts didn't play for 14 days after having his appendix removed in late July.

Sloane is the key midfield component of the Crows, who Lynch believes are in prime maturity entering their third consecutive finals series.

"The more big games you play, the more you get those experiences, the better you are going to be," Lynch said.

"The guys are pretty confident but have got a lot of work to do still to get what we are after."
