The decision of Mitch McGovern to re-sign with Adelaide justifies the AFL club's culture, Crows captain Taylor Walker says.
McGovern has signed a three-year contract extension to remain in Adelaide, rejecting a lucrative offer from Fremantle.
"Obviously we have done a lot of work in keeping our group together," Walker told reporters on Wednesday.
"We have created a great culture, a great vibe around the club.
"And you have only got to listen to what Mitch said yesterday, he wanted to stay because of the foundations at the footy club.
"It's just great for him to be able to recommit to this great footy club."
McGovern's deal leaves retaining defender Jake Lever as the main list priority for Adelaide.
Lever is fielding rich offers from Melbourne-based clubs but Crows coach Don Pyke dismissed any notion of a distraction at his table-topping club.
"It's fantastic for us to secure (Mitch) for a three-year period," Pyke told reporters on Wednesday.
"But as I have said, we're not really focused on the contracts, we're focused on the finals.
"I don't look at it whether it's a distraction for the finals.
"I'm looking at it more in the basis we have now secured a player that we value and we wanted to keep.
"Timing-wise, it's nice it's done. But we're not sitting here ... working on contracts, we're working on finals."
