Adelaide Crows co-captain Chelsea Randall has ordered her teammates not to dwell on their AFLW season-opening loss or the injury to star player Erin Phillips.
The reigning premiers were beaten by the Brisbane Lions on Saturday night, with Phillips sidelined by a thigh injury which will also keep her out of this weekend's fixture against Melbourne.
But Randall says she wants other players to fill the void left by the injury to Phillips.
Phillips' teammate and fellow premiership player Courtney Cramey (hamstring) will also miss Saturday's away clash against Melbourne.
"They are important players to this football club and to our team," Randall told reporters on Wednesday.
"But in saying that, it's an opportunity for young people and some of our the up and coming stars to step up and to have a really good game against Melbourne.
"No player likes to be injured ... it would be quite frustrating.
"But such is the quality person that Erin and Courtney both are, they want to make sure they're right to go for the team.
"It's such a short season, we can't afford for anyone to be out for the entire season."
Randall said the Crows had rapidly moved on from their 12-point loss to Brisbane last Saturday in the grand final re-match.
"Obviously it's a disappointing start to our season but we can't dwell on those types of things, we have got to move forward," she said.
"Already our minds have switched towards Melbourne this weekend.
"Everyone is taking ownership ... each individual needs to be making an impact."
