Crusaders' Andy Ellis to quit Super Rugby

Crusaders stalwart Andy Ellis is making 2016 his last Super Rugby season, effectively ending his Test career.

Former All Blacks halfback Andy Ellis will quit Super Rugby at the end of the season with the Crusaders to play in Japan.

The 32-year-old, who will bring up 150 games against the Waratahs in Christchurch on Friday, is effectively bringing the curtain down on a Test career which harboured 28 caps and spanned nine years.

Ellis made his Crusaders debut in 2006 and made his first appearance for the All Blacks later that year.

He will continue his career in Japan's Top League for the Kobelco Steelers.
