The 81 year-old leader proposed that the constitution should be changed so terms for top officials, including himself, are limited to 10 years, CNN's Patrick Oppmann reports.

Although Castro's daughter, Mariella Castro, has recently been elected to the Cuban National Assembly, Miguel Diaz-Canel has been nominated as the president's unofficial political heir, possibly marking an end to the Castro era.
