Curbing Qld domestic violence 'a priority'

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has hailed the progress made into curbing domestic violence, but warns the problem is still not solved.

The murder of Queensland woman Toyah Cordingly shows there's still a long way to go in stopping violence against women, Annastacia Palaszczuk says.

The premier has tabled a document in parliament highlighting the progress made in the three years since the release of the landmark Not Now Not Ever report into domestic violence.

The document shows 95 per cent of Queenslanders now "feel safe" from domestic and family violence.

However, Ms Palaszczuk says the fact that 11 women were murdered across the country in October alone, including Ms Cordingly, shows the need for more to be done to tackle the issue of violence against women.

"My government knows delivering genuine reform takes time and we will continue to monitor our progress and impact to ensure a safer Queensland for all," she said on Wednesday.

More than 93,000 calls were made to the domestic violence hotline DV Connect in 2017-18, while 15,000 perpetrators voluntarily accessed domestic violence diversion programs.

The government has implemented 95 of the recommendations from the Not Now Not Ever report, with 26 still outstanding.

It's spending $328.9 million over six years on the issue.

The premier will attend a "red rose rally" at state parliament on Wednesday, coinciding with a number of similar rallies around the country.
