Nigerian authorities have imposed a curfew on the capital city Abuja following a string of attacks by Islamist militants.
The BBC reports that pubs, clubs and cinemas must shut by ten PM local time, and parks which admit children must close by six PM.
Eight people were killed by the Boko Haram sect in an attack in the city two weeks back, while Monday saw an attack in the northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri which left at least 25 people dead.
"We condemn such acts, which are an affront to the rule of law and democratic principles," the EU and US said in a statement, stressing that the perpetrators should be prosecuted.
"There is no place in society for these horrific acts of violence and there should be no impunity for the perpetrators," they added.
Suspected members of the Islamist sect Boko Haram members tossed bombs and fired on a crowded beer garden in Maiduguri on Sunday, killing at least 25 people and injuring up to 30 others.
The attack was one of the deadliest in the volatile city in recent months.
On Monday, two people were killed in another attack also in Maiduguri which has seen an upsurge in raids by suspected Boko Haram members in recent months.
