Cutting back in Bulls fold for Shield game

Ben Cutting will make a welcome return for Queensland's Sheffield Shield game against Tasmania while Chris Lynn's comeback will be via the Futures League.

Queensland have turned to Ben Cutting for their must-win Sheffield Shield game against Tasmania in Hobart while Chris Lynn's return from injury will come via the Futures League.

Cutting replaces injured quick Mark Steketee, who is set to miss the remainder of the season with a side strain.

The Bulls dropped to fifth after losing to South Australia on the final day in Adelaide but can still make the Final later this month if they can defeat the sixth-placed Tigers and then leaders Victoria in their final game of the regular season.

"We've been competitive but you could argue we haven't performed at our best, so now is our chance to lift our efforts and show that we can challenge for a spot in the Final," Bulls coach Phil Jaques said.

Former Test opener Joe Burns, the second leading runs-scorer in the Sheffield Shield, will lead Queensland for the second time in the absence of injured wicket-keeper Chris Hartley.

Victoria go into the second-last round with 44.67 points, South Australia (39.1) are second ahead of WA (35.96), New South Wales (34.15) and Queensland (32.49).

Brisbane Heat star Lynn will line-up for the Queensland Academy of Sport against the ACT Comets at Allan Border Field, after his recovery from a neck issue that forced him out of Australia's ODI and T20I campaigns last month.

Queensland's Sheffield Shield squad: Joe Burns (c), Ben Cutting, Luke Feldman, Jason Floros, Peter Forrest, Cameron Gannon, Peter George, Sam Heazlett, Marnus Labuschagne, James Peirson, Sam Truloff, Jack Wildermuth.
