A man is dead after his bicycle was hit from behind by a car in regional Victoria.

A cyclist is dead after being hit from behind by a car in regional Victoria.

The 23-year-old Strathfieldsaye man died in a Melbourne hospital on Friday after being hit at Mandurang near Bendigo earlier in the day.

Police say he was hit by a Mazda sedan being driven by a 20-year-old Kangaroo Flat woman, who stopped at the scene and was taken to a local hospital.

Earlier on Friday, a woman died in a two-car smash outside Purrumbete, between Colac and Warrnambool.
