Cyclone brewing off WA's north

A cyclone warning has been issued for coastal areas from Kuri Bay to Broome.

A tropical cyclone is likely to hit Western Australia's northern coast today with winds of up to 100km/h likely forecast for the Kimberley.

The Weather Bureau has issued a cyclone warning for coastal areas from Kuri Bay to Broome with a tropical low to the north of Broome expected deepen into a cyclone.

The system is expected to intensify over the weekend as it tracks southwest towards the Pilbara coast on Monday.
