A controversial method for testing whether asylum seekers in the Czech Republic are gay or not has come under fire from a human rights group, the BBC reports.

Asylum seekers who say they're gay are hooked up for a 'sexual arousal' test, where blood flow to the penis is measured while the man in the hot seat is shown heterosexual porn, the BBC reports.

Those showing signs of arousal are then denied asylum.

The Fundamental Rights Agency said "it is dubious whether (the test) reaches sufficiently clear conclusions", and said that the European Convention on Human Rights could be violated.

For its part, the Czech government said that the 'phallometric tests' had been used less than ten times.
