Several days worth of heavy rain across Tasmania is being chased by damaging winds, with a severe weather warning in place for much of the state.
The Bureau of Meteorology on Wednesday said a cold front will pass through in the afternoon with wind gusts of up to 100km/h forecast at some centres.
"Trees may fall over more easily than usual due to saturated soil conditions," the BoM website warned.
"Winds should begin to ease about the northwest in the early evening, and about the remainder of the state later in the evening."
Rain is due to continue for much of the state, with the western region expected to receive up to 300mm in parts over the coming week.

Minor flood warnings remain in place for eight rivers.
Authorities have criticised the actions of one driver who became trapped in floodwaters, despite warnings.
The 68-year-old man and his partner, 51, got stuck with water lapping at the windows of their car at Beulah in the state's northwest.
The woman raised the alarm with authorities but the couple were towed to safety by a local resident.
"Incidents like this are frustrating when there is considerable media attention relating to the flood levels in the area and adequate and visible signage positioned in dangerous areas," police Inspector Stuart Wilkinson said.
