Dan Marsh re-signs as Tas cricket coach

A focus on developing local cricket talent has seen Dan Marsh offered a two-year extension as Tasmanian head coach.

Cricket Tasmania have re-signed Dan Marsh as head coach.

Marsh, 42, a former Australian cricketer and son of Rod Marsh, was out of contract at the end of the 2015-16 season but has accepted the offer of a two-year extension, Cricket Tasmania chairman Andrew Gaggin said on Wednesday.

Gaggin noted that since Marsh came to the helm in 2013-14 the number of Tasmanian-born players in the squad has increased by 20 per cent, which is considered important in light of departures over recent years by big name locals such as Ricky Ponting, Ben Hilfenhaus and Luke Butterworth.
