Canberra's city centre will be transformed into a dance party with a line up of fireworks and DJs to ring in the new year.

The festivities will kick off from 7pm with a family-friendly concert at Civic Square.

From 9pm, Garema Place will become a high-energy dance party, featuring DJs Tigerlily, Hudak, Felixx and Jake Raven.

The fireworks will go off at 9pm and midnight, with Civic Square the best vantage point.

Police have warned revellers they'll be targeting anti-social behaviour and underage drinking. There will also be dedicated patrols on the roads.
