Dangerous WA drivers to get police texts

Text messages or letters will be sent by WA Police to the state's most dangerous drivers in a bid to change their behaviour on the roads.

Western Australia's most dangerous drivers will receive personal text messages and letters from the police commissioner, urging them to change their behaviour on the roads.

Commissioner Karl O'Callaghan said repeat traffic offenders were highly represented in WA's road toll each year.

"While identifying the drivers to be targeted in such an operation, we discovered 13 of them were involved in fatal road crashes in 2015," Mr O'Callaghan said.

The messages will be sent to drivers who have committed two or more `category A' offences within two years, including speeding, drink driving and reckless driving.
