Until now, the Crown Prince Couple's Awards have never been staged outside of Denmark.
But the Sydney Opera House once again lent itself to another powerful display of both Aussie and Danish pride.
The awards were established after the couple married back in 2004. The honour is accompanied by prize money and some high praise.
The main social award went to Night Owls - a volunteer organisation dedicated to helping young and vulnerable people - by simply walking through residential areas.
Princess Mary presented violinist Rune Tonsgaard Sorensen with one of the night's rising star awards, switching almost seamlessly between English and Danish in her presentation of the award.
Another award went to singer songwriter Mo, whose dedication to her craft has seen her make an impact both at home and abroad.
Anyone who's caught episodes of Borgen or The Killing on SBS would've been pleased with the night's final result.
The artistic teams behind both dramas captured the Culture Award hailed for their storylines and strong females leads that have enraptured audiences the world over.
The awards come after a week of celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the Opera House, designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon.
