After just 11 NRL games, Brisbane teen sensation David Fifita has been earmarked as a future Queensland State of Origin star.

The 18-year-old is one of 15 players named in Kevin Walters' Emerging Maroons squad which will come together on the Sunshine Coast in January.

Broncos teammates Joe Ofahengaue and Jaydn Su'A, who pledged his allegiance to the Maroons over New Zealand, have also been included.

The squad highlights the battle for the No.6 and No.7 jumpers which is set to be waged for several years with Gold Coast's Ash Taylor, Melbourne's Brodie Croft, North Queensland's Jake Clifford and Parramatta's Corey Norman receiving a nod.

It's a shot in the arm for Norman with his immediate playing future still up in the air.

He is contracted to Parramatta for 2019 but looks set to exit to St George Illawarra.

The deal however has stalled in recent days over a reported $20,000 difference in his asking price and what the Eels are willing to contribute to his salary next year.

Newcastle centre Tautau Moga also received a berth despite missing most of last year because of an ACL injury.

Emerging Queensland Origin squad: Joe Ofahengaue, Christian Welch, David Fifita, Jaydn Su'A, Rhyse Martin, Ash Taylor, Brodie Croft, Jake Clifford, Corey Norman, AJ Brimson, Phillip Sami, Tautau Moga, Nene Macdonald, Kyle Feldt, Brenko Lee.
