Retiring Melbourne Stars captain David Hussey has likened his side's comprehensive BBL loss to the Perth Scorchers as "a bad dream".
The 39-year-old on Wednesday announced he was stepping down a day after the Stars' seven wicket-loss in their semi-final at the WACA.
"It was like a bad dream, really. You're not going to win too many games of cricket, let alone T20 cricket, at 4-20 after seven overs," Hussey told SEN radio after tweeting the news.
"(I'm) pretty disappointed, pretty flat. We didn't play the brand of cricket or the style of cricket we wanted."
The middle-order batsman also explained that he was "done" with BBL.
"I spoke to the boys quietly last night. I don't really like to try and make too much of a deal of it," Hussey said.
He added that he couldn't do the things he wanted anymore, and him playing on was stopping up-and-coming talent from achieving.
Hussey also fired back at Darren Lehmann after the Australian coach ripped into Stars player Kevin Pietersen's performance and said he was paid too much.
"I was pretty disappointed with Darren. For a person who I revere - and he's probably one of my idols ... it was pretty disrespectful," Hussey said.
"He's the Australian head coach. He doesn't really know what goes on in and out of the Melbourne Stars and what Kevin Pietersen actually brings to the table on and off the field.
"He's in charge of the Australian cricket team and he's paid to do what's best for the Australian cricket team.
"He's not paid to do what's best for the Melbourne Stars."
Lehmann had called for the Stars to move Pietersen on after he managed only five from 10 balls before succumbing to a rampaging Mitchell Johnson.
"@KP24 @tensporttv @BBL time for stars to move KP on, spent to (sic) much money on him and didn't win. Don't want to listen to his excuses anymore," Lehmann tweeted on Tuesday night.
Hussey has been with the Stars since the inaugural BBL season in 2011, scoring 855 runs at 26.71 from 48 matches over six years.
He retired from first-class cricket in April 2015 and also played 108 games - 69 one-dayers and 39 T20s - for Australia.
