David Jones will open a boutique store in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley early next year as part of its plan to target more bustling inner-city locations.
David Jones James Street will be the department store chain's second smaller-format stores, with the first set to open at Barangaroo in Sydney's CBD next week.
The James Street store will have four levels and will be about the quarter of the size of David Jones' Toowong store.
"James Street is one of Brisbane's most vibrant shopping and lifestyle precincts making it an ideal location for our new boutique format," David Jones chief executive John Dixon said.
"This dynamic format enables us to deliver an innovative store experience in a smaller footprint."
He said the store will have a personal shopping suite and a wide range of beauty services staffed by "personal shoppers, advisors and experts."
David Jones is increasing its store count and recently opened a flagship store at Pacific Fair on the Gold Coast. It also plans to open its first store on the Sunshine Coast.
