Dawson death a wakeup call for Miller

Swimmer Scott Miller has vowed to stay clean after the shock death of his ex-wife Charlotte Dawson.

Olympic swimmer Scott Miller has told his family he won't let ex-wife Charlotte Dawson's death push him back into drugs.

His mother, Jenny Miller, said her son was in a state of shock after Dawson's body was found at her Woolloomooloo apartment on Saturday.

The 47-year-old had taken her own life after a long battle with depression and social media bullying.

"I don't think this will push him back into drugs," Ms Miller told News Corp Australia on Tuesday.

Miller's family say the swimmer was taken to Melbourne by rehabilitation workers on Saturday shortly after his ex-wife's body was discovered.

The 39-year-old recently completed six months' rehab for a methamphetamine addiction and is determined to stay clean, his mother said.

"He said, `this is showing me how many people that are out there that need help, now I'm going to channel my energies into helping others'."

His older sister, Nicole Perko, says Dawson's death came as a shock.

"I keep looking back at her text messages trying to see something in them," she said.

"I just did not pick up on it."

Dawson was found dead the day after her ex-husband's birthday and a week after his tell-all interview on Channel Nine's 60 Minutes about his battle with drugs.

Longtime friend Richard Wilkins said he and Dawson had spoken about the program, in which her ex-husband denies having an affair while they pair were married.

"We talked a lot about Scott's interview on 60 Minutes, which had raised a lot of stuff for her," Wilkins said.
