Day 2: Swimming, cycling in the spotlight

Here's a medal tally after day 1, plus events to watch on day 2.

Having surged to an early lead on the medals table, Australia will be looking to consolidate its advantage on day two of the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Eighteen gold medals are on offer in six sports, including swimming, cycling and shooting.

Leisel Jones will be pushed by rising star and countrywoman Leiston Pickett in the women's 50 metres breaststroke final, while Ashley Delaney, Hayden Stoeckel and Dandiel Arnamnart are the three fastest qualifiers for the men's 50 metres backstroke final.

Emily Seehohm, Marieke Guerher and Yolane Kukla will compete in the women's 50m butterfly.

At the velodrome, Anna Meares defends her 500 metres individual time trial title, where training partner Kaarle McCulloch will fancy her chances of causing an upset.
