Dayne Beams has declared he is staying put in Brisbane and will see out the remainder of his AFL contract with the club.

Reports earlier in the year suggested Beams was looking for a trade to a Victorian club but the 28-year-old hosed down any such talk on Thursday.

"After having our exit meetings earlier this week, I thought it was a good time to let everybody know I won't be going anywhere," Beams said in a statement.

"I love the coach, the playing group, and am excited about where this footy club is headed.

"I have never asked for a trade away from the Lions and would like to put an end to any speculation over my playing future.

"I will be seeing out my contract here."

Beams, who stood down as Lions skipper midway through the year after the death of his father, is tied to the club until 2020.

He was one of Brisbane's standout players during a season of huge improvements under coach Chris Fagan and was named in the extended 40-man All Australian squad, although he didn't make the final team.

Beams could have more help in midfield next year with reports the Lions are chasing Fremantle star Lachie Neale for next season.

Neale is due to become a free agent next year but is being courted by Brisbane for a potential trade, according to Fairfax Media

Fagan has previously spoken about his desire for another quality on-baller to take the heat off Beams and Dayne Zorko, who are targeted by opposition teams every week.

Neale, 25, would fit the bill nicely but would come not come cheap given he is one of the Dockers' best players.

The Lions are reportedly considering offering them pick four in the upcoming draft.
