South African batsman Quinton de Kock says his blazing tour-opening ton is a glorified net session.
De Kock smacked 122 from 103 before retiring against a callow Cricket Australia XI at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.
In the pink-ball, day-night game, JP Duminy made 97 and Hashim Amla (51 retired) and Dean Elgar (43) chipped in.
The Proteas were bowled out for 415 on the opening day of their tour but de Kock played down the run feast against a CA XI all aged 22 or younger.
"I don't count all the warm-up games," de Kock said.
"A warm-up game and a net to me is the same thing.
"But when it comes game time and focus time then I'd like to contribute to our camp."
Game time comes on November 3 when the three-Test series against Australia starts in Perth.
While de Kock dominated, South African captain Faf du Plessis (8), opener Stephen Cook (5) and Rilee Rossouw (8) failed.
But de Kock, Duminy and Amla rapidly settled into their stride in what, for many South Africans, was their first hit against a pink ball in match conditions.
"I'm not one to overthink it - a ball is a ball," de Kock said after hitting 16 fours and three sixes.
"I just play the way I should be playing in that situation, so there's no difference to me at the end of the day."
De Kock combined with Duminy for a commanding 217-run partnership for the sixth wicket as the tourists gathered intelligence about the pink ball at Adelaide Oval.
The Adelaide Test of the looming series be South Africa's inaugural day-night Test.
"It took some getting used to out there with the pink ball but the wicket was quite nice so it made life a bit easier," de Kock said.
"It was a new experience and quite nice to be part of it."
Emerging NSW spinner Arjun Nair (2-82 from 20 overs) and Tom O'Donnell (2-71) were multiple wicket-takers.
The Proteas play another two-day practice game on Thursday and Friday in Adelaide before travelling to Perth for the first Test.
