The family of a Victorian man who died after jumping off a cliff into a northern NSW quarry have been notified of his death.
The 20-year-old's body was found three-metres under the surface of the Island Quarry swimming hole at Byron Bay by four police divers on Monday afternoon following a half hour search.
It was found "up against a rock ledge," Inspector Darren Steele of the Tweed police told AAP.
Authorities began looking for the man after his mates reported him missing on early Sunday afternoon.
"Witnesses indicate he jumped off the cliffs a couple of times during the day," Insp Steel said.

"We believe it was the result of him jumping that caused his death."
The man is yet to be formally identified, but police say it's the missing Victorian and have contacted his next of kin.
Several people have severely injured themselves at the popular water hole over the years.
"Certainly we'd be discouraging people from diving from the rock cliffs into the water," Insp Steele said.
Island Quarry trust president Shane Rennie told AAP he was upset by the "terrible" incident.
But he wouldn't comment further, saying the matter was under investigation.
The man's death isn't being treated as suspicious.
A report is being prepared for the coroner.
