Commonwealth and state governments have agreed to implement pre-commitment technology on poker machines, but still haven't agreed on whether it will be compulsory.

The technology will allow people to set a maximum amount for how much they'll lose before parting with their cash.

The government is also to crack down on live odds during sporting games, saying such types of gambling have become insidious.
