Two more victims of last month's earthquake in central Italy have passed away, raising the death toll to 297, the national civil defence agency, or Protezione Civile, says.

The latest victims were among those seriously injured by the August 24 calamity, a magnitude-6 quake that flattened Amatrice, Accumoli and Arquata del Tronto about 150 kilometres north-east of Rome.
