With an AFL finals berth still within reach, Melbourne coach Paul Roos says he's more keen to focus on other milestones.
The Demons' 40-point win over Port Adelaide on Saturday night marked the first time they've beaten the Power in Adelaide since 2000.
It was also the first time under Roos that the Demons have won three games in a row following last week's triumph over Hawthorn and a tight win over Gold Coast in round 19.
Roos says it's another sign his young side is heading in the right direction as he prepares to hand over coaching duties to assistant Simon Goodwin.
"It's really, really important because these guys are going to be together for a long time," he said.
"I'm not going to be picking the team but I suspect there's going to be a lot of guys tonight that are going to be playing in round one next year.
"It sets up the belief in the group and trust in each other and what they can deliver."
The Demons remain a chance to claim a spot in the finals if they can win their remaining games against Carlton and Geelong.
Eight-placed North Melbourne must also lose to either Greater Western Sydney or Sydney for the Demons to sneak through on percentage.
While acknowledging a finals berth was "mathematically possible", Roos said he wouldn't be distracted by the Demons' spot on the ladder.
He said he was pleased by his side's spread of contributors against Port Adelaide after stars Jesse Hogan and Jack Viney were each kept quiet.
"That's one of the biggest reasons we've become a more consistent team, because we're not relying on any one or two players now," he said.
"Last week was the first team I've ever coached ... that every player got votes in the best and fairest.
"That itself tells you how much we've grown."
