A bus crash in southern NSW has injured 12 people.

Defence cadets, midshipmen and staff from the Australian Defence Force Academy were on the bus when it rolled on a rural road 50km south of Goulburn on Saturday morning.

Several passengers were seriously injured, including three people who have been airlifted to hospitals in Canberra and Liverpool, after the bus crashed on Sandy Point Road at Windellama.

Police earlier said one person had been critically injured.

The Department of Defence has said it was notifying the families of those involved in the accident.

"Awful news today with #yourADF people injured in bus crash in NSW. Thnx to Emergency Services & hospitals involved" vice chief of the Australian Defence Force Ray Griggs tweeted.

No one was killed in the crash.
