Outraged federal MPs have called for an investigation following revelations there were 265 reports of sexual misconduct in the Defence Force last year.
There were 28 cases of aggravated sexual assault, 59 instances of sexual assault, 94 indecent acts, 80 cases of sexual harassment and four cases related to pornography in 2016-17, according to a Defence department report.
Defence insists unacceptable behaviour is not tolerated and the department has been attempting to significantly reform its culture in the past few years.
Federal MPs are appalled the sexual misconduct statistics are so high and have called an inquiry.
Labor's defence spokesman Richard Marles said he'd seek a briefing from the government.

"This is an issue we had hoped that we were on top of," he told ABC TV.
Liberal MP Tim Wilson called for a full investigation.
"I think everyone would accept that such culture is completely unacceptable to the government, to the Australian people, and we expect a full investigation," Mr Wilson told reporters.
Opposition frontbencher Clare O'Neil said it was crucial there was a safe space for women in the Australian military.
"We know the best military to defend our country is going to be one where the role of women is protected and women are respected," she said.
The Defence Department said it takes allegations seriously.
"The action taken in each case will often depend on the individual circumstances of the case and there are occasions where a victim may not wish to progress a complaint," a spokesman said in a statement.
The Defence Force investigates allegations or refers them on to civilian police.
