Of these, 1535 were new complaints received by the Defence Abuse Response Taskforce between November 2012 and May 2013.
Defence Minister Stephen Smith today told parliament allegations of serious abuse at the Australian Defence Force Academy, and HMAS Leeuwin in Western Australia are worse than expected.

"The taskforce... now has an additional 48 complainants alleging incidents of physical abuse, sexual abuse, harassment or bullying at ADFA," he said.
The taskforce is now in the process of dealing with complainants and working towards resolutions, which could include compensation of up to $50,000 for individuals.
