Matthew Dellavedova's Cleveland Cavaliers plan to celebrate their ties to Australia at their NBA game on January 25.

Cavaliers players will wear gold jerseys and the Australian national anthem will be sung before the home game against Minnesota Timberwolves, which coincides with Australia Day - January 26 - in Australia.

Boomers point guard Dellavedova has emerged as a fan favourite for the NBA title contenders since playing a starting role alongside megastar LeBron James in last season's finals series defeat to Golden State Warriors.

The Cavaliers' regular starting point guard Kyrie Irving was also born in Melbourne and holds dual citizenship in both countries.

The Cavaliers have pounced on the interest generated Down Under, announcing a partnership with Australian-based company Sanitarium.

"As the Cavaliers popularity continues to grow, the Cavaliers are proud to be establishing these types of partnerships," said Cavaliers CEO Len Komoroski.

"From Cleveland to Australia, we are thrilled to dedicate a game to a country with a fan base that loves Cavs basketball."

Dellavedova is averaging a career-high nine points, two rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes this season.
