Matthew Dellavedova was warmly welcomed back by Cleveland Cavaliers fans but it was rookie guard Collin Sexton that starred in their 116-101 NBA win over the Washington Wizards.
Sexton matched a career high with 29 points while Tristan Thompson had 23 points and 19 rebounds.
Wizards guard John Wall was held to a career low one point in 26 minutes as the Cavaliers welcomed back Australian guard Dellavedova after he was acquired in a trade on Friday.
He watched from the bench but was not suited up to play.
"I appreciate the love from everyone," he said. "It makes me feel very welcome."

Dellavedova could play on Monday when Cleveland visit the Milwaukee Bucks, the team that traded the 28-year-old.
"Obviously you don't expect to pick and move, but it's the NBA so it could always happen," he said.
"If it was going to be anywhere I'm definitely glad it's here where I'm comfortable with familiar faces and a lot of friends."
LeBron James had 20 points, nine assists and eight rebounds and Kyle Kuzma added 20 points and nine rebounds in the Los Angeles Lakers' 111-888 demolition of the Memphis Grizzlies.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Josh Hart added 16 points apiece, and JaVale McGee had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers.
Jaylen Brown scored 23 points as the Boston Celtics routed the Chicago Bulls 133-77 for their fifth-straight victory.
The 56-point loss was the worst in the Bulls' history, eclipsing a 53-point defeat at Minnesota in 2001.
Rookie Luka Doncic shrugged off a rough shooting night with 11 straight points to erase an eight-point deficit late in the fourth quarter as the Dallas Mavericks sealed their ninth consecutive home victory with a 107-104 defeat of the Houston Rockets.
Thaddeus Young had a season-high 20 points and nine rebounds, and Bojan Bogdanovic added 18 points as the Indiana Pacers defeated the Sacramento Kings 107-97.
Elsewhere, the Brooklyn Nets beat the New York Knicks 112-104 and the Atlanta Hawks upset the Denver Nuggets 106-98.
The Portland Trailblazers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 113-105 while the Miami Heat wrapped up the program with a comfortable 121-98 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.
