US House of Representatives Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler has issued a subpoena for the full Russia investigation report by special counsel Robert Mueller.
Nadler, a senior Democrat, wants the Department of Justice to comply by May 1 and said he was also asking for the underlying materials that founded the basis for the report.
Nadler said on Friday he was willing to reach a "reasonable accommodation" with the Department of Justice on access, but would not accept a situation where Congress was "left in the dark".
He said the report points to serious instances of wrongdoing by President Donald Trump.
"It now falls to Congress to determine the full scope of that alleged misconduct and to decide what steps we must take going forward," Nadler said in a statement.
