Demons expect fired-up Lions at MCG

Melbourne's Dom Tyson says his AFL side won't be taking Brisbane lightly at the MCG, pointing to how the lowly Lions almost beat Sydney in round six.

Melbourne are expecting Brisbane to be at their best in Sunday's AFL clash, with the Lions still stinging from a 78-point belting dished out by Collingwood.

Brisbane's season slipped to a new low in round eight at the Gabba, where the Magpies kicked 8.13 before the hosts scored.

Demons midfielder Dom Tyson says his side won't be using that lopsided loss as a form guide ahead of Sunday's MCG meeting.

"You probably look a bit more at form over maybe a month or two," Tyson said.

"It was about three weeks ago when they nearly knocked off Sydney, who are a pretty good side.

"So we won't take them lightly at all.

"We'll focus a little bit on them, how they want to move the ball and how they defend. Primarily our focus will be getting back to what we do best."

In that regard, Tyson suggested there was plenty of room for improvement after a 32-point loss to Western Bulldogs.

"We'll need to be on our game and we need to bounce back, because we didn't play exactly how we wanted to against the Dogs," he said.

Tyson was one of many players to have a light run during Wednesday's training session.

The 22-year-old noted there were a "few boys a bit bruised and battered" after a tough clash with the Bulldogs.

"It was a pretty contested game," he said.

"The Bulldogs bring that fierce contest.

"It was a solid hit-out. We learned a fair bit off them.

"I think they're No.1 in contested possessions and gave us a bit of a touch up ... so we'll be looking to bring that against the Lions."
