Joe Denly plans on making sure his only four games for the Sydney Sixers this summer won't be his last appearances in the Big Bash League.
Denly starred in his first game for the club on Saturday night, setting up their win with 42 off 29 at the top of the order as they claimed their first win of the season over the Thunder.
Winless in their first six games, the Sixers' finals hopes were long gone by the time Denly arrived as a replacement player for Jason Roy and Sam Billings.
But he now intends to use those games to show his value and make sure he is picked up by BBL clubs from next season on.
"These four games are a fantastic opportunity for me and I've just got to soak it up and enjoy every minute," Denly said.
"It's a great opportunity to try to showcase my skills and hopefully get myself back out here next year."
A short-form representative for England in 2009 and 2010, Denly has played in both English and Bangladeshi Twenty20 leagues in the past year before arriving in Australia.
And it appears only a matter of time before he appears more attractive to teams in the global T20 competitions.
The 31-year-old opener finished atop the run-scorers list in last year's English county T20 competition, hitting 567 at an average of 43.61 and strike rate of 150.79 for Kent.
"It's always a new challenge going into foreign countries and experiencing new conditions," he said. "It's about training and preparing for what you're going to come up against.
"The wickets are a bit pacier, a bit more bounce (in Australia). You certainly get tested from the waste up a bit more. I quite enjoy that."
