Dennis joins select cycling club at Giro

Australia's Rohan Dennis has become only the third Australian to lead all three Grand Tours after taking the pink jersey at the Giro d'Italia.

ROHAN DENNIS

* Only the 23rd cyclist to achieve the feat.

* Dennis is the ninth Australian to lead the Giro d'Italia after Cadel Evans, Bradley McGee, Robbie McEwen, Brett Lancaster, Richie Porte, Michael Matthews, Simon Gerrans and Simon Clarke.

* Led the 2015 Tour de France for one day after winning the opening individual time trial stage. He was the seventh and most recent Australian to wear the maillot jaune.

* Also led last year's Vuelta a Espana for one day after BMC won the opening stage, a team time trial.

CADEL EVANS:

* 2011 Tour de France champion - the only Australian to win a Grand Tour. Led the 2008 Tour from stages 10-14. Led the 2010 Tour after stage eight for one day. Took the 2011 Tour after stage 20 (second-last stage).

* Became the first Australian to lead the Giro in 2002, for one day after stage 16. Led after stage two in 2010 for one day. Led in 2014 from stages eight-11'

* Led the 2009 Vuelta after stage eight for one day.

BRAD MCGEE:

* Won the 2003 Tour prologue, led until stage three.

* Won the 2004 Giro prologue, lost the lead after stage one and regained it for one day on stage two.

* Became the first Australian to lead the Vuelta in 2005, from stages two to five.
