A worker's death at the site of Adelaide's new desalination plant is a horrible tragedy, the project director says.
The man, 35, from Vista in Adelaide, died on Friday in a workplace accident at the construction site at Lonsdale in Adelaide's southern suburbs.
AdelaideAqua project director Duncan Whitfield said work was suspended at the site while investigations into the accident were underway.

"At this time, our main concern is for the welfare of the deceased man's family and any other personnel involved," Mr Whitfield said in a statement on Saturday.
"This is a horrible tragedy and we will leave no stone unturned in discovering the root cause of the accident to ensure it never occurs again."
He did not provide details of the accident as the investigation was ongoing.
But he said no other worker was seriously injured in the accident.
"We have offered support and counselling to the deceased man's family as well as all AdelaideAqua and other personnel associated with the works on site.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner and SafeWork SA officials will also investigate.
The desalination plant, which will eventually provide up to half of Adelaide's water supplies, is due to start operating later this year.
