Detached truck trailer kills Vic driver

A truck trailer has detached from its cabin, veered onto the wrong side of a Victorian highway and collided with a ute, killing the driver.

A ute driver has been killed by a trailer after it detached from a moving truck and crossed onto the wrong side of a Victorian highway.

The ute driver, a man in his 60s, died at the scene of the crash on the Glenelg Highway east of Coleraine on Thursday morning.

The truck driver is assisting police as they try and piece together what caused the trailer to come free.
