Details for the Enfield by-election

Key details ahead of the Enfield by-election forced by the resignation of former SA deputy premier John Rau.

* More than 25,500 people are enrolled to vote in Enfield.

* The seat covers about 16.5 square kilometres in Adelaide's inner-northern suburbs.

* It was created in the 1998 redistribution of state electoral boundaries and has been held since 2002 by former deputy premier and attorney-general John Rau.

* In the 2018 state election, Mr Rau won with 57.9 per cent of the two-party preferred vote.

* Seven candidates will contest the by-election including former Port Adelaide mayor and independent Gary Johanson, Andrea Michaels for Labor, independent Liberal Saru Rana, Sebastian Konyn for The Greens, Stephen Humble for the Liberal Democrats and independents Amrik Singh Thandi and Mansoor Hashimi.

* Lawyer Andrea Michaels is expected to win, though Gary Johnson or Saru Rana could force the result to preferences. The SA Liberal government is not running an endorsed candidate.
