Dhawan, Kohli find early form for India

Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli have blasted half-centuries as India made 4-192 in their T20 tour match against a WA XI in Perth.

Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli have hammered half-centuries against a Western Australian XI at the WACA Ground to begin India's limited-overs tour of Australia.

India posted 4-192 in the Twenty20 tour match after captain MS Dhoni won the toss on Friday night, with Dhawan and Kohli both making 74 and sharing in a 149-run partnership.

The visitors lost an early wicket when Rohit Sharma was run out for six, but it soon became the Dhawan and Kohli show.

After taking some time, the pair began to tee off showing little respect for WA attack that includes first-class players Ryan Duffield (1-21) and David Moody (0-40).

The pair's partnership ended in the 17th over when Kohli was caught behind by Josh Inglis off Josh Nicholas. He used up only 44 balls with seven fours and three sixes.

Dhawan went the next over also for 74 from 46 deliveries with his knock including eight fours and three sixes.

Captain Dhoni also struck some form late with two sixes to remain 22 not out from 14.

India are in Australia for five one-dayers and three Twenty20 internationals starting with a 50-over clash in Perth on Tuesday.
