Diamonds to play netball in Launceston

Australia will host New Zealand in a Constellation Cup Test in Launceston in October, their first Tasmanian clash for 30 years.

Australia will play New Zealand in a netball Test in Tasmania for the first time in 30 years when they face the Silver Ferns there in October.

Netball Australia announced Launceston would host the second match of the four-Test Constellation Cup series on October 12.

"Tasmania has a vibrant netball community and we can't wait to see our fans out in force, in green and gold," Australian Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander said.

The last time the Silver Ferns played in Tasmania was in 1986 - a 31-19 loss at Launceston.

An Australian venue for the first Test on October 9 is still to be confirmed.

New Zealand host the second half of the series, in Auckland and Invercargill.
