Rangers have caught and put down two dingoes that attacked a three-year-old girl on Queensland's Fraser Island.

Witnesses gave the rangers descriptions of the dogs' ear tags so they could identify them.

A man's told of seeing the little girl walk away from her mother and grandmother while they were waiting for a barge to take them back to the mainland.

David Law says the girl wandered over a sand dune into the bushes .. and the dogs made a beeline for her biting her on both legs before he and another man chased them away.

He says it's the dingoes' breeding season and they can be quite territorial.
