Two men have been admitted to hospital after a serious assault in Brisbane's south overnight.

Two men are in hospital, one with a facial fracture, after a dispute on Brisbane's south overnight erupted in violence.

A 39-year-old man had confronted an elderly man at an Upper Mount Gravatt address around 11.30pm on Thursday before a 45-year-old man arrived shortly after, say police.

The dispute escalated with the 39-year-old man taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with a facial fracture, while the 45-year-old man was also admitted to hospital with a fractured hand.
