A Guadalupe Island diver has had an extremely lucky escape after a four-metre great white entered his shark cage.
The incident was captured on film which shows the thrashing shark force its way into the cage as the nearby boat crew scramble to pull the diver out.
Incredibly, the animal writhes around alongside the submerged diver for 25 seconds before it manages to escape and the man is able to climb out unharmed.
“I almost had a heart attack out there! I’m still alive,” he can be heard saying in the video which was posted to YouTube on Thursday.
According to the person who uploaded the footage, the diver was completely unharmed. They describe the man as “a very experienced dive master” who “remained calm” throughout the terrifying incident.
The shark had been baited to approach the cage with a large piece of tuna and appears to have collided with the side of the cage while trying to eat the fish.
Diving with sharks is a popular tourist attract off the coast surrounding Mexico’s Guadalupe Island.
