As the nuclear crisis in Japan deepens, several countries across the world are rethinking their nuclear power strategies. Germany temporarily shut down seven of its oldest nuclear reactors, while Switzerland suspended plans to replace its ageing nuclear power plants. Meanwhile, in China alone, where 27 nuclear reactors are under construction and 50 more are planned, authorities have said they will push on with their atomic energy efforts.
