Do you think Tony Abbott's comment was inappropriate?

Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has come under fire for saying 'shit happens' while discussing the death of a digger in Afghanistan. Abbot says he was taken out of context, and the defence force and RSL have backed him. The widow of the digger to whom Abbott referred says she's not offended, while his father is outraged. What are your thoughts?
