Luckless Fremantle midfielder Anthony Morabito faces an uphill battle to break back into AFL ranks after suffering another injury setback.

He will miss the next two weeks of WAFL action due to an ankle injury.

It continues Morabito's unlucky trend of injuries, with two hamstring injuries hampering the 24-year-old earlier in 2016.

Morabito has played just three AFL games since his breakout season of 2010, with three knee reconstructions and multiple soft-tissue setbacks foiling his plans for a sustained comeback.

Fremantle coach Ross Lyon is eager to give Morabito another chance in AFL ranks this season - but only after a sustained playing period in the WAFL.

That has proven difficult to achieve, with Morabito notching just six WAFL appearances so far this year.

But the Dockers received a dose of good news on the injury front this week, with mature-age recruit Shane Yarran ready to resume in WAFL ranks after recovering from a calf injury.

Yarran was the leading goal-kicker in the WAFL last season, but knee and calf issues have restricted him to just one WAFL appearance this year.

Fremantle veteran Matthew Pavlich will return from a groin injury in Saturday's home clash with Port Adelaide.

The Dockers have distanced themselves from the wooden spoon battle following big wins over Essendon and Brisbane, and they're aiming to make it three wins on the trot against finals contenders Port.
