Fremantle AFL ruckman Aaron Sandilands says he's on the mend and back doing bike work less than two weeks after suffering a punctured lung and broken ribs.
Sandilands, discharged from hospital last week after undergoing surgery, is expected to miss at least five more games.
But the 211cm ruckman can see a light at the end of the tunnel after returning to the club to build his fitness.
"I'm on the mend now, and starting to feel good again," Sandilands told the club's website.
"I'm starting to do a few exercises and having a sit on the spin bike, so it's good to be back at the club."
Sandilands copped a knee to his back from West Coast's Nic Naitanui while reversing into a marking contest in the Dockers-Eagles derby.
"I knew when I hit the ground that it was a pretty solid hit," Sandilands said.
"I heard my ribs go, and I thought I was just winded and had to get up as quick as possible to try and suck the air back in.
"It's one of those things. It's part of the game, and it was just unfortunate that I was on the wrong side of it."
The Dockers are 0-4 heading into Sunday's clash with Carlton at Domain Stadium.
Fremantle skipper David Mundy will miss another week with a calf injury, but ruckman Zac Clarke (knee) is a chance to return after being named in the extended squad.
