Western Bulldogs president Peter Gordon has urged the AFL to seriously consider adding a Tasmanian team into the competition.
Gordon wants the AFL to expand to 20 teams and believes the southern state is entitled to be the next club.
"I think Adelaide and Perth will both have sufficient scale, population and passion to come under consideration for a third club in the future," he told the Herald Sun.
"But the one stand out at the moment is Tasmania. I believe they are entitled to their own team.
"I think it's a matter that ought to be legitimately canvassed by a future AFL commission."

AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan said there was a process in place for a Tasmanian club, but couldn't say when it would happen.
"I've said they deserve their own team. I think that's a popular view, it's just challenging to get there," McLachlan told Fox Footy on Monday night.
"There's a plan there for two or three years time, if they get talent coming through, to enter a team in the VFL."
"Hopefully getting unity and putting a bid together. It's not going to be in the next couple of years, but at least there is a pathway."
Tasmanian football has become heavily politicised, with Labor pledging $25 million towards helping establish a club if it wins this year's federal election.
Last week, the National Party launched a website encouraging people to show the AFL why there should be a Tasmanian-based team by 2023.
